Intimate Brightening

Intimate brightening products are cosmetic creams, serums, gels and lotions intended to improve the appearance of uneven tone or darker-looking external skin around areas such as the bikini line and inner thighs. Common cosmetic formulas may contain ingredients used in broader brightening skincare, but results vary and these products should not promise permanent whitening or a change to the skin’s natural colour. Choose products clearly labelled for the external intimate area and follow the stated application frequency. Avoid unlabelled or unregulated skin-lightening products, particularly those containing mercury or non-prescription hydroquinone, and stop using the product if it causes burning, persistent redness or irritation. Do not apply it inside the vagina or to broken or freshly shaved skin unless the manufacturer specifically states that this is suitable.
